I own several different bike lights and mostly use them for visibility during the day on my road bike and for dawn/dusk/dark commuting. Previously I used a MagicShine MJ-808 light, a compact lighthead with separate battery at a great low price. Now I have switched completely over to the L&M Urban 500 for all purposes.
The Urban 500 is noticeably brighter, much more user friendly and compact, and has a more useful 'visibility' blinking mode that makes me extremely visible during daytime and early/late day rides. Being able to charge from my iPhone/iPad charger or from a computer USB port is brilliant, and the brightness / runtime ratio is incredible compared to what was possible just 2 years ago.
After several hundred miles with Urban 500 I would highly recommend it to anyone. Note: There is a service bulletin on the lights for lights made before 12/9/2011; check a sticker inside the packaging to see if yours is affected, see [...] for info.
