Background... just got back into biking and I wanted to be sure those 18+ wheelers roaring up behind me can see me.
Some thoughts on the Serfas Rechargeable Taillight...
1.) size... a small (2 in. x 1 1/2 in. x 3/4 in.) unit that attaches to the seat post with an adjustable rubber strap. Easy to put on and take off when leaving your bike unattended.
2.) the device has 5 red LCD lights that are very bright and easily visible... they protrude outward so all 5 lights are visible not only from the rear but also from both sides, effectively giving you an arc of 180 degrees of bright red, pulsating light. Needless to say, it adds greatly to the your visiblity for traffic approaching from behind.
3.) a slightly raised and easily accessible button on the top of the device allows you to toggle between
a.] ON bright
b.] ON dim
c.} ON all lights flashing
d.] OFF
4.a) comes with a USB recharging cord that has a USB 2.0 connector on one end (for use with the USB port on a computer etc.) and mini-USB connector on the other end for insertion into the Serfas charging port.
4.b) while charging, a blue light flashes... when fully charged, the blue light remains on.
5.) the store where I bought this told me that this unit was water resistant... hmmm, just not sure what that means, so if I ever need to use it in wet weather I'll wrap it in a small clear plastic bag just to be sure.
Conclusion:
A small unit with 5 very bright red, LED lights... if you do any amount of road biking, then this unit (or something similar) is an absolute must.
Rechargeable and easily installed and removed from your bike.
